Overview
The HIV-1 capsid protein p24 is a major structural component of the human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) and plays a central role in the viral life cycle. It forms the conical core that encapsulates the viral RNA-nucleocapsid complex within each virion. It is considered an attractive target for antiretroviral therapy. Small molecule inhibitors and peptides targeting p24 have shown to inhibit virus replication.
