Target intelligence / Profile preview
HIV integrase is a 32 kDa viral enzyme essential for the replication of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). It catalyzes the integration of viral DNA into the host cell genome, a critical step in the retroviral life cycle. This process allows HIV to establish persistent infection and is required for productive viral replication. Inhibition blocks establishment of chronic infection; thus central to modern anti-HIV therapy.
