The HLA-A2-WT1 peptide complex consists of the human class I major histocompatibility complex (MHC) molecule HLA-A*02:01 presenting a peptide derived from the Wilms Tumor 1 (WT1) protein. WT1 is a transcription factor that is overexpressed in various hematopoietic and solid tumors, making it an important target for cancer immunotherapy. This complex plays a critical role in immune surveillance by presenting tumor-associated WT1 peptides on the surface of cells, where they can be recognized by cytotoxic CD8+ T lymphocytes. This recognition can trigger targeted killing of tumor cells expressing WT1, forming the basis for several vaccine and adoptive T cell therapy strategies.
