By providing a known baseline of immune reactivity, these peptides allow researchers to normalize data and ensure the specificity of T-cell responses to novel antigens or therapeutic candidates. They do not function as therapeutic targets themselves but are critical tools for the development and quality control of vaccines and immunotherapies.
