Target intelligence / Profile preview
The homeobox B3 pseudogene is a genomic DNA sequence similar to the functional HOXB3 gene. Unlike protein-coding genes, pseudogenes such as this one lack the ability to encode functional proteins, often due to mutations or sequence truncations. While parental HOXB3 is a transcription factor within the Antp homeobox family and participates in development and oncogenesis, its pseudogenes are considered nonfunctional remnants of gene duplication or retrotransposition. There is currently no evidence that the homeobox B3 pseudogene is active, encodes a protein, or functions in human biology. It is not recognized as a therapeutic, diagnostic, or pharmacological target.
