Overview

Homeobox containing 1 (HMBOX1) is a transcription factor and telomere repeat-binding protein encoded by the HMBOX1 gene. It is not known as a receptor, enzyme, or established therapeutic target, but as a DNA-binding protein, it regulates gene expression, particularly in the context of telomere maintenance and chromatin organization[2][3][5]. HMBOX1 is widely expressed in normal tissues with uneven levels, showing particularly high expression in brain, adrenal gland, testis, and skin[2].
