Homeobox protein Hox-A2 (HOXA2)

Target
HOXA2
Molecular classification
Transcription factor, Homeobox protein
01

Overview

Homeobox protein Hox-A2 (HOXA2) is a sequence-specific DNA-binding transcription factor essential for embryonic development in vertebrates, particularly in determining cell positional identity along the anterior-posterior axis. HOXA2 regulates morphogenesis and differentiation, and is critical for correct placement and formation of the lower and middle face, middle ear, and hindbrain segments. Mutations in HOXA2 are known to cause developmental syndromes such as microtia, hearing impairment, and cleft palate[1][2][3][7][8]. There is no current evidence that HOXA2 directly serves as a drug target or biomarker in clinical practice.
