Overview
Homeobox protein Hox-A6 is a sequence-specific DNA-binding transcription factor belonging to the homeobox gene family, which is involved in early embryonic development. Located on chromosome 7 as part of the A cluster, HOXA6 protein regulates gene expression controlling morphogenesis and differentiation. It is spatially and temporally regulated, playing a central role in providing cells with positional identities along the anterior-posterior axis in vertebrates. Aberrant expression or regulation of HOXA6 is implicated in several cancers, notably acute myeloid leukemia and glioblastoma[1][3][4][8].
