Target intelligence / Profile preview
Homeobox protein Hox-B13 is a sequence-specific transcription factor essential for embryonic development and tissue homeostasis. It regulates gene expression through its homeodomain and MEIS interacting domains. HOXB13 plays a role in skin development, body patterning, prostate development, and tumor suppression. Germline mutations, particularly G84E, are strongly associated with increased risk for hereditary prostate cancer due to impaired regulation of target gene expression.
Modulates androgen receptor (AR) signaling pathways; acts as an AR repressor. Can activate or repress transcription of AR target genes.
