A hormone receptor antagonist is a type of receptor antagonist that specifically acts upon hormone receptors. These molecules bind to hormone receptors but do not activate them, thereby blocking or dampening the biological response that would normally be triggered by the natural (endogenous) hormone. They are used in antihormone therapy for various conditions, including cancers, endocrine disorders, and other diseases where modulation of hormonal signaling is beneficial.
