Hormone regulation

"Hormone regulation" refers to the physiological processes that control the synthesis, release, and activity of hormones within the body. This involves complex feedback mechanisms—primarily negative feedback loops—whereby endocrine glands secrete hormones in response to specific stimuli and are subsequently inhibited once homeostasis is restored[8][9]. The process ensures that hormone concentrations remain within optimal ranges for normal growth, metabolism, reproduction, and other vital functions[1][2][5]. Regulation occurs at multiple levels including humoral (blood-borne), hormonal (other hormones), and neural stimuli[9]. While many drugs target specific components of these regulatory pathways (such as receptors or enzymes), "hormone regulation" itself is not a discrete molecular entity or therapeutic target but rather an overarching biological process.
