Target intelligence / Profile preview
Host adaptive immunity, also known as the adaptive or acquired immune system, is a highly specialized subsystem of the overall immune response in vertebrates. It is characterized by its ability to recognize and specifically target individual pathogens through unique molecular markers called antigens. Unlike innate immunity, which provides a broad and immediate defense against pathogens, adaptive immunity develops more slowly but offers highly specific and long-lasting protection.
