Overview

The host immune system consists of a complex network of cellular and molecular components, including immune cells (such as T cells, B cells, natural killer cells, dendritic cells, macrophages, neutrophils, eosinophils, basophils, mast cells) and a wide range of soluble molecules (antibodies, complement proteins, cytokines, chemokines, and pattern recognition receptors)[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8]. These elements act collectively to "detect, signal, eliminate, and remember" pathogens and other threats, orchestrating both innate and adaptive immune responses. Specific subtypes (e.g., T cell receptor, B cell receptor, Toll-like receptors, cytokines) are established therapeutic targets, but "host immune system components" as a general entity is overly broad and not a valid single therapeutic target. Some immune system elements also serve as disease biomarkers and can be modulated by therapies, but precise effects, safety concerns, and mechanisms all depend on the individual molecule or cell under consideration. This target is too general, covers multiple separate entities and pathways, and should be split into specific, well-defined molecules or families for structured information aligned to biomedical practice.
