Overview

Host innate immune cells" collectively refers to the cellular components of the innate immune system, which provide the body's first line of defense against pathogens and contribute to the regulation of inflammation and interactions with the adaptive immune system[1][2][3][4]. This group includes various white blood cells (leukocytes) such as macrophages, neutrophils, dendritic cells, natural killer cells, mast cells, basophils, eosinophils, as well as some lymphocyte subsets (e.g., B-1 cells, mucosa-associated invariant T (MAIT) cells)[1][2][3]. These populations perform a multitude of functions: recognizing and eliminating pathogens, presenting antigens to adaptive immune cells, releasing cytokines and chemokines, conducting phagocytosis, and contributing to tissue repair and inflammation[1][2][3][4]. Due to their broad cellular composition, "host innate immune cells" is not suitable as a singular molecular or pharmacologic target, and should be replaced with the name of a specific cell type (e.g., "macrophage," "neutrophil," "Toll-like receptor 4") or a distinct target molecule expressed on or within these cells if structured target information is required[1][3].
