House dust mite allergen-specific IgE antibody refers to immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies in human serum that specifically recognize and bind to proteins derived from house dust mites, such as *Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus* and *Dermatophagoides farinae*. The presence of these antibodies indicates sensitization, which is a key risk factor for developing allergic reactions upon re-exposure to house dust mite allergens. Detection of house dust mite-specific IgE is used clinically for diagnosing allergies caused by house dust mites, identifying the causative allergen in patients with allergic symptoms, and confirming sensitization before starting allergen immunotherapy (AIT).
