Hsp90 co-chaperone Cdc37-like 1 (CDC37L1) is a cytoplasmic phosphoprotein that functions as a co-chaperone, binding to various client proteins and promoting their association with molecular chaperones Hsp70 and Hsp90 to assist in protein folding and stability. CDC37L1 is a paralog of CDC37, with reported involvement in regulating tau protein stability and processing, particularly relevant to tauopathies such as Alzheimer’s disease. While it is a protein coding gene expressed in human tissues, the direct role of CDC37L1 in disease or as a drug target is not established. There are currently no drugs or specific therapeutics targeting CDC37L1, nor documented use as a clinical biomarker.
