Target intelligence / Profile preview
Human adenovirus serotype 7 (HAdV-7) is a highly pathogenic adenovirus associated with severe respiratory illnesses, particularly in children and immunocompromised individuals. It is a non-enveloped virus with an icosahedral capsid structure and a double-stranded linear DNA genome. HAdV-7 infections are notable for causing severe pneumonia, ARDS, and toxic encephalopathy. No approved vaccine or antiviral therapy currently exists for civilians, although research into monoclonal antibody therapies is ongoing.
Neutralization of viral infectivity by binding to the hexon protein.
