Human aspartyl (asparaginyl) β-hydroxylase, encoded by the ASPH gene, is an alpha-ketoglutarate-dependent dioxygenase involved in the hydroxylation of aspartyl and asparaginyl residues within EGF-like domains of proteins. It plays a role in cell motility, adhesion, and Notch signaling. Overexpression is associated with various cancers and poor prognosis. Mutations in the ASPH gene cause Traboulsi syndrome. Alternative splicing produces multiple protein variants with diverse functions.
