Human Cell-Mediated Immune System

Cell-mediated immunity is a collective term describing immune defense mechanisms mediated primarily by T cells, cytotoxic cells, natural killer cells, macrophages, dendritic cells, and other leukocytes[3][5][9]. These cells detect and kill infected or abnormal cells, coordinate immune responses, and regulate inflammation through cytokine signaling and direct cellular contact. This system does not refer to a single molecular entity or classic "drug target" such as a receptor, enzyme, or transporter, but instead encompasses numerous distinct molecules, cell types, and pathways working synergistically[5][9][1]. Therefore, "Human Cell-Mediated Immune System" cannot be annotated as a canonical molecule or therapeutic target.
