Human Papillomavirus L1 Virus-Like Particles (HPV L1 VLPs)

Target
HPV L1 VLPs
Molecular classification
Viral capsid protein, Virus-like particle, Antigen
01

Overview

Human Papillomavirus L1 Virus-Like Particles (HPV L1 VLPs) are non-infectious, self-assembled structures mimicking native HPV virions. They are used as antigens in prophylactic HPV vaccines to stimulate the human immune system, inducing high titers of neutralizing antibodies that prevent initial HPV infection and subsequent development of HPV-related diseases, including cervical cancer. The immune response involves both humoral (B cell) and cellular (T cell) immunity.
