Overview
The Human papillomavirus (HPV) protein E7 is a small oncoprotein expressed by high-risk HPV types. It plays a central role in the viral life cycle and is crucial for the development of HPV-associated cancers by disrupting cell cycle control, promoting genomic instability, inhibiting apoptosis, and evading the immune system.

Mechanism of action
E7 binds to and promotes degradation of pRb tumor suppressor proteins, releasing E2F transcription factors and driving cells into S-phase. It also modulates histone deacetylation and upregulates angiogenesis-related genes.
