Target intelligence / Profile preview
The Human papillomavirus type 18 (HPV18) L1 protein is the major capsid protein of HPV18, a high-risk virus associated with cervical and other anogenital cancers. The L1 protein forms the structural basis of the viral capsid and plays a critical role in virus assembly, infectivity, and immunogenicity. It is the primary target of neutralizing antibodies and the basis for prophylactic HPV vaccines.
L1 protein-based vaccines induce neutralizing antibodies that prevent HPV infection by blocking viral entry into host cells.
