Human papillomavirus type 45 (HPV45) is a specific genotype within the Papillomaviridae family, classified as an alpha-7 high-risk HPV associated with approximately 5% of cervical cancer cases worldwide[1][2]. It is a small, non-enveloped, double-stranded DNA virus with an ~8 kb genome coding for early regulatory proteins (E1, E2, E4, E5, E6, E7) and late structural proteins (L1, L2)[2][3]. Oncogenicity is primarily driven by the E6 and E7 oncoproteins, which disrupt host cell cycle control and inhibit apoptosis, culminating in oncogenesis[4]. HPV45 infection is often detected by molecular testing for viral DNA in cervical samples and, as with other high-risk HPVs, persistent infection may lead to malignancy[1][2]. Prophylactic HPV vaccines containing L1 proteins protect against HPV45 infection but do not function by inhibiting a therapeutic molecular target[2].
