Target intelligence / Profile preview

Human papillomavirus type 52 major capsid (L1) protein (HPV52 L1)

Target
HPV52 L1
Molecular classification
Viral structural protein, Capsid protein
01

Overview

The L1 protein is the major capsid protein of human papillomavirus type 52, a high-risk genotype associated with cervical cancer and other anogenital malignancies. L1 mediates initial attachment and entry of HPV into host cells, stabilizes the viral genome during intracellular trafficking, and is a key component of prophylactic vaccines like Gardasil®9, where it is presented as virus-like particles (VLPs) to induce neutralizing antibodies.
