Target intelligence / Profile preview

Poliovirus receptor (PVR (CD155))

Target
PVR (CD155)
Molecular classification
Receptor, Cell adhesion molecule, Immunomodulatory protein
01

Overview

The Poliovirus receptor (PVR, CD155) is a cell surface protein belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily, initially identified as the cellular entry receptor for the human poliovirus. PVR mediates poliovirus attachment and entry into host cells, and alternative splicing generates both soluble and transmembrane isoforms. Beyond its virological role, PVR functions as an important cell adhesion and immunomodulatory molecule, regulating leukocyte migration and checkpoint pathways via interactions with CD226 and TIGIT. It is also implicated in cancer progression and immune evasion, making it both a biomarker and a therapeutic target in oncology
