Human proislet peptide (HIP) is a regulatory peptide shown to promote the differentiation of human fetal pancreatic progenitor cells into functional β cells by inducing the expression of key proislet transcription factors. HIP exerts its effect through the AKT/FOXO/menin pathway, leading to epigenetic modifications that favor islet cell maturation.
