Human serum albumin (HSA) is the most abundant protein in human blood plasma, constituting about half of the total serum protein content. It plays a critical role in maintaining oncotic pressure, regulating blood pH, and transporting a wide variety of endogenous and exogenous substances including hormones, fatty acids, bilirubin, thyroxine (T4), cations (such as Ca²⁺, Na⁺, K⁺), and many pharmaceuticals.
