Huntingtin interacting protein K pseudogene

Molecular classification
Pseudogene - noncoding
01

Overview

Huntingtin interacting protein K pseudogene is a non-protein-coding genomic sequence related to the functional gene HYPK (Huntingtin interacting protein K). Pseudogenes do not produce functional protein products and are not recognized as therapeutic targets. The HYPK protein, by contrast, is a chaperone-like molecule that interacts with the Huntingtin protein (HTT) and may be involved in protein folding, acetylation regulation, and prevention of polyglutamine aggregation in neuronal cells[4][8][10]. However, ENSG00000224548 refers specifically to the pseudogene, which has no confirmed biological or disease-related function. All functional and disease associations are related to the protein-coding gene or protein, not the pseudogene.
