IDI1 pseudogene 1 (IDI1P1)

IDI1 pseudogene 1 (IDI1P1) is a pseudogene, meaning it is a DNA sequence similar to the functional IDI1 gene but is not known to encode a functional protein. While IDI1 encodes a peroxisomally-localized enzyme critical in the isoprenoid and cholesterol biosynthesis pathway, IDI1P1 does not produce an active protein and has no established biological function or disease relevance.
