IDI1 pseudogene 2 (IDI1P2) is a predicted noncoding genomic locus that resembles the functional IDI1 gene, which encodes the peroxisomal enzyme isopentenyl-diphosphate delta isomerase 1 involved in isoprenoid and cholesterol biosynthesis[1]. As a pseudogene, IDI1P2 does not produce a functional enzyme. Pseudogenes like IDI1P2 can be remnants of gene duplication or retrotransposition events and may accumulate mutations over time. Some pseudogenes have been implicated in regulatory roles or rare gene conversion events in disease, but there is no evidence that IDI1P2 itself has any direct biological or disease relevance[4][5].
