Overview

IDI2 antisense RNA 1 (IDI2-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) gene located on human chromosome 10, distinct from protein-coding regions, and does not encode a protein[1][4]. Its transcript is thought to regulate the neighboring sense-strand gene IDI2 at the post-transcriptional level, but its precise functional role is largely uncharacterized[2][4]. Experimental studies demonstrate that IDI2-AS1 responds rapidly to simulated viral infection (Poly I:C stimulation), with significant downregulation during this cellular stress condition, suggesting possible involvement in immune or stress responses[3]. However, experimental evidence for direct disease association, drug targeting, or precise biological mechanism remains currently limited. IDI2-AS1 is considered a regulatory lncRNA, potentially functioning as a sensor or modulator in host cell stress pathways, but further research is required to clarify its role and molecular interactions[1][3][4].
