Ig lambda chain variable region pseudogenes are nonfunctional gene segments within the immunoglobulin lambda light chain locus. They do not encode functional antibody proteins and do not participate in normal immune responses. Pseudogenes arise from gene duplication and mutation events, and, while they are related to the structure and evolution of the immunoglobulin gene family, they have no direct biological activity or therapeutic relevance.
