Overview
The IgE-mediated allergic response is a type I hypersensitivity reaction characterized by the production of IgE antibodies against specific allergens. Upon subsequent exposure, allergen cross-linking of IgE on mast cells and basophils triggers degranulation and the release of inflammatory mediators, leading to characteristic allergy symptoms.
