Overview

IGF2BP2 pseudogene 3 (IGF2BP2P3) is a pseudogene and does not encode a functional protein or act as a biological target. The parent gene, IGF2BP2 (insulin-like growth factor 2 mRNA-binding protein 2), encodes an RNA-binding protein implicated in various physiological and disease processes, including metabolism, embryonic development, and cancer[4][5][6]. However, IGF2BP2P3 lacks coding potential and functional roles characteristic of receptor, transporter, or enzyme targets. There is currently no evidence that IGF2BP2P3 functions as a therapeutic target, biomarker, or is involved in mechanistic drug actions. The biological significance of such pseudogenes is limited to their potential as transcriptional noise or, infrequently, as regulators via RNA-mediated mechanisms, but there is no direct evidence of such a role for IGF2BP2P3.
