Ikaros Family Zinc Finger Protein 1 (IKZF1)

Target
IKZF1
Molecular classification
Transcription factor, Zinc finger protein
01

Overview

Ikaros family zinc finger protein 1 is an essential transcription factor governing lymphoid development through direct control over gene expression programs required for immune cell differentiation. Its structural integrity—particularly its six-zinc-finger motif—is vital for both DNA binding specificity/functionality and dimerization capacity. Loss-of-function alterations drive susceptibility/progression of acute lymphoblastic leukemia while germline defects cause primary immunodeficiencies. As such, it serves both as a biological master regulator within hematopoiesis/immunity pathways and an important clinical biomarker/prognostic indicator across several blood disorders.
