IL21R antisense RNA 1 (IL21R-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA located at chromosome 4q27, acting in the nucleus where it likely regulates gene expression—most notably, it modulates the nearby IL21 receptor gene. It is differentially expressed in several disease states including coronary artery disease, systemic lupus erythematosus, and rheumatoid arthritis, and may regulate immune and inflammatory pathways, possibly via the IL-2/T follicular regulatory (Tfr) cell axis.
