IL9R pseudogene 1 (IL9RP1)

Target
IL9RP1
Molecular classification
Pseudogene
01

Overview

IL9R pseudogene 1 (IL9RP1) is a non-coding pseudogene similar in sequence to the Interleukin-9 receptor gene (IL9R), but contains mutations and deletions that prevent expression of a functional protein[2]. Four IL9R pseudogenes have been identified in human subtelomeric regions of chromosomes 9, 10, 16, and 18[2]. These pseudogenes lack key regulatory and coding sequences (such as the 5' flanking region and exon 1) and their open reading frames are disrupted. Unlike the functional Interleukin-9 receptor gene (IL9R), IL9RP1 does not participate in cytokine signaling, immune response, or disease processes, and is not considered a therapeutic target[2][1]. If searching for a therapeutic target, refer to the functional Interleukin-9 receptor (IL9R), not IL9RP1.
