Immune cells – non-specific engagement refers to a therapeutic strategy that stimulates the immune system broadly rather than targeting a specific antigen or a single molecular receptor (Cancer Research Institute, 2023). However, because the engagement is non-specific, it often results in systemic side effects such as fever, fatigue, and in severe cases, cytokine release syndrome (NIH, 2022). While modern medicine has shifted toward more targeted therapies like checkpoint inhibitors, non-specific engagement remains a critical component of certain treatment regimens and a foundational concept in immunology (Wikipedia, 2023).
