Overview

Fc receptors (FcRs) are a family of cell surface proteins that bind to the Fc region of immunoglobulins (antibodies), mediating diverse immune functions. Engagement of FcRs triggers intracellular signaling cascades that modulate immune cell activity, influencing processes such as phagocytosis, antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC), cytokine release, and antigen presentation. Aberrant FcR signaling is implicated in autoimmune diseases, while engineered interactions with specific FcRs are exploited to enhance the efficacy of therapeutic antibodies.
