Regulatory T cell (Treg) induction is a critical mechanism for maintaining immune tolerance and homeostasis. It involves the differentiation of conventional T cells into Tregs, characterized by the expression of CD4, CD25, and the transcription factor Foxp3. This process is influenced by factors such as antigen presentation, co-stimulation, and cytokines like IL-10 and TGF-β. Tregs suppress excessive immune responses and prevent autoimmunity through various mechanisms, including the secretion of inhibitory cytokines and direct cell-cell interactions. Dysregulation of Treg induction can lead to autoimmune diseases or impaired anti-tumor immunity.
