Immune system activation via dendritic cell (DC)-mediated T-cell priming refers to the process by which dendritic cells, as professional antigen-presenting cells (APCs), initiate and regulate the activation of naïve T cells. This is a critical early step in adaptive immunity, enabling the body to mount specific responses against pathogens or tumors. The process requires three key signals: 1) Antigen recognition (TCR binds peptide-MHC complex on DC), 2) Costimulation (interaction between costimulatory molecules on DCs and receptors on T cells), and 3) Cytokines (DC-derived cytokines direct the fate and function of activated T cells). This pathway underpins vaccine efficacy, anti-tumor immunity, tolerance induction/autoimmunity prevention, and is a target for immunotherapies.
