The "immune system response to tetanus toxoid" refers to the adaptive immunological processes triggered by vaccination with tetanus toxoid, an inactivated form of tetanus neurotoxin from *Clostridium tetani*. Upon administration, the toxoid is recognized by the immune system, activating T helper cells and B cells, leading to the production of specific antibodies (primarily IgG) that confer protective immunity against subsequent tetanus exposure. Immunological memory is established, but wanes over time, necessitating regular booster vaccinations. The humoral immune response is measured by anti-tetanus antibody titers.
