Target intelligence / Profile preview
Immune tolerance induction to ragweed allergen refers to the process by which the immune system is trained or modulated to reduce or eliminate hypersensitivity reactions specifically against ragweed pollen. This is primarily achieved through allergen-specific immunotherapy (AIT), which exposes patients to controlled doses of ragweed allergens, aiming to shift their immune response from an allergic (Th2-dominated) profile toward a more tolerant state.
Repeated exposure to ragweed allergens leads to increased IgG1/IgG4/IgA, decreased IgE, shift from Th2 to Th1/Treg responses, and suppression of mast cell/basophil activation.
