Overview

Immunoglobulin-binding protein 1 (IGBP1) is a cytoplasmic protein encoded by the IGBP1 gene, primarily involved in regulating the activity of several serine/threonine protein phosphatases, notably PP2A, PP4, and PP6, by binding to and stabilizing their catalytic subunits until they are assembled with regulatory subunits[1][5]. It is also associated with the B-cell antigen receptor complex and may participate in signal transduction processes that control B-cell proliferation and differentiation[1][5][6]. IGBP1 is not a classical drug target such as a receptor, enzyme, or transporter, nor are any drugs currently known to target this protein directly[5]. It has alternative names reflecting its role in phosphatase regulation and historical association with immunoglobulin components. Disease associations are mostly linked to rare genetic syndromes including agenesis of the corpus callosum, intellectual disability, and micrognathia[5].
