Mechanism of action

Omalizumab is a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody that selectively binds to the Cε3 domain of the IgE heavy chain. This binding sequesters free IgE and prevents its interaction with the high-affinity FcεRI receptor on the surface of mast cells and basophils, thereby inhibiting the release of inflammatory mediators during the allergic cascade [4].
