Immunoglobulin epsilon Fc receptor/CD23 is an essential regulator at the interface between humoral immunity and allergic inflammation—modulating both local cellular events through membrane-bound forms and systemic immunity through soluble variants. Its unique properties make it an attractive target for therapeutic modulation in allergy-related diseases. It regulates IgE responses, antigen presentation, and influences immune processes. Soluble forms of CD23 (sCD23) have cytokine-like activities. CD23 exists in two main isoforms: CD23a (B-cells) and CD23b (inducible via IL-4).
