These antibodies are primarily recognized as diagnostic biomarkers for Bird Fancier's Lung, a form of hypersensitivity pneumonitis, rather than as therapeutic targets for drug development (StatPearls, PMID: 30725823). In sensitized individuals, these IgG antibodies bind to avian proteins to form immune complexes that trigger inflammatory responses in the lung parenchyma, potentially leading to interstitial lung disease and fibrosis (American Thoracic Society, 2020).
