The Immunoglobulin G-type B-cell receptor heavy chain is a key component of the B-cell receptor (BCR) complex found on the surface of memory B cells. This molecule is a membrane-bound form of immunoglobulin G (IgG), which, together with associated signaling proteins, enables B cells to recognize specific antigens and initiate immune responses. Upon antigen engagement, it initiates intracellular signaling cascades and triggers internalization and processing of bound antigens for presentation to helper T cells. Memory B cells expressing this receptor can rapidly respond to previously encountered antigens with accelerated and high-titer antibody production. Defects can result in immunodeficiencies.
