Immunoglobulin heavy diversity 1-7 (IGHD1-7) is one of several diversity (D) gene segments within the immunoglobulin heavy-chain locus on chromosome 14q32, required for generating variable regions of antibodies through V(D)J recombination during B cell development[2][3]. The V, D, and J segments recombine to produce unique immunoglobulin heavy chains, critical for immune diversity. IGHD1-7 itself is not a functional protein or receptor but is a short DNA segment used in generating B cell receptor (antibody) diversity. Errors or aberrant recombination may contribute to lymphoid malignancies, but IGHD1-7 is not a direct therapeutic or diagnostic target.
