Immunoglobulin heavy joining 1 pseudogene (IGHJ1P) is a nonfunctional member of the immunoglobulin heavy chain joining segment family, present at the IGH locus on chromosome 14. Unlike the closely related IGHJ1 gene, IGHJ1P does not encode a protein and does not participate in V(D)J recombination or antibody synthesis[1][7]. The protein-coding joining segments (such as IGHJ1) are essential parts of the immunoglobulin complex in B lymphocytes, contributing to antigen recognition. The IGHJ1P sequence is typically annotated in genomic studies for completeness, but it is irrelevant to therapeutic targeting, biomarker studies, or drug interaction research[1][7].
